On July 21st, I graduated! I earned my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts!
my fabulous cohort, the Draft Punks
Going to VCFA was the best thing I could have done for myself. I loved learning from the amazing authors and educators on VCFA's faculty, and I met friends I know I'll have for the rest of my life. Being a VCFA student was a magical experience, and I'm forever grateful to the faculty members who helped me grow as a writer and a person. I'm especially grateful to my four advisors, my very own dream team: Melanie Crowder, Linda Urban, Kari Anne Holt, and Liz Garton Scanlon.
Every residency was filled to the brim with learning, joy, community, and growth opportunities. My fifth and final residency in July was especially exciting because I gave a graduate lecture and read from my creative thesis.
This photo is from my lecture.
My family watched my reading from home via Zoom.

Graduation was beautiful. Bittersweet, too, since my time at VCFA was so special.

And now? In my mind and heart, I'm holding everything VCFA gave me as I head into the next chapter in my writing journey.
